Forfar Athletic returned to winning ways on Saturday as a Danny Denholm double helped them to a 3-0 win over in-form Stirling Albion.
Jim Lister opened the scoring before Denholm netted in each half to seal a comfortable victory for the League Two leaders.
With Jamie Bain suspended, Andy Munro returned to the starting XI as Josh Peters also replaced Lewis Milne.
The Loons started off well and eleven minutes in they were unlucky not to be ahead; O'Brien’s header hitting the bar while Michael Travis’ follow up was saved by the foot of Stirling keeper Chris Smith.
Two minutes later they were in front thanks to good work by Gavin Swankie as he created space down the left before his low cross was stabbed home by Jim Lister.
Stirling looked to get back into things quickly, coming close when Ross Kavanagh and Dylan Bikey had efforts diverted away from goal.
Danny Denholm doubled the Loons’ advantage after 26 minutes; Eddie Malone setting the winger up to rifle home from the edge of the box.
Malone and Lister both had chances to extend the lead in the build up to half time with the Loons looking worth their lead.
It wasn’t long until Forfar were further ahead in the second half with Denholm the scorer again in the 54 th minute. A free kick caused problems in the box for Stirling and Denholm capitalised to force the ball past Smith.
Josh Peters and David Cox were denied by Smith just after the hour mark meanwhile the Binos had their best opportunity of the game in the 67 th minute. Blair Henderson slipped the ball to Darren Smith who looked certain to score but Grant Adam did well to block his shot and the danger was cleared.
The Loons were unlucky not to add to their tally in the dying stages of the game; Swankie and Fotheringham combining for the former to send a lofted ball in that hit the bar with Smith beaten.
