Forfar Athletic made it two wins in a row with only one loss in their last six after a 2-0 win at home to East Fife.

Second half goals from Eddie Malone and Michael Travis ensured that Jim Weir’s side took all three points to extend the gap between them and Queen’s Park at the foot of League One.

Scott Lochhead replaced Conner Duthie and Matthew Aitken started instead of Ousman See in the only changes from last week’s win over Albion Rovers.

Forfar started off well with Scott Lochhead seeing his first minute effort pushed wide after good work by David Cox and Matthew Aitken.
Dylan Easton struck low at the keeper five minutes later before East Fife started to make their way into the game. Nathan Flanagan was denied by McCallum with teammate Kyle Wilson sending a shot over the terracing and into the Market Muir.
Chris Duggan was inches away from connecting with a Flanagan cross while at the other end Easton sent a shot straight at Mark Hurst.
Both sides came close towards the end of the first half with Easton’s free kick flying just past the post before Mark Docherty’s strike was held by McCallum.
Jonathan Page headed wide four minutes into the second half as both sides kept up the hunt for the opening goal.
The Loons made the breakthrough just before the hour mark; Cox laying the ball off for Jamie Bain and his cross into the danger zone was bulleted home for Eddie Malone’s first Forfar goal.
Bain kept the hosts ahead in the 65th minute when Page’s header was cleared off the line by the defender with the follow up effort blocked again.
Two minutes later Forfar had added to their lead with a free kick almost at the corner flag from Easton volleyed through a ruck of players by captain Michael Travis.
The visitors struggled to find a way through the Loons defence as the game edged nearer to the full time whistle with Kevin Smith blasting a free kick well over before Duggan’s shot was deflected wide.
The last clear cut chance of the game came in 81st minute; Page seeing his header held by man of the match McCallum as Forfar earned their third win of the season.
