Ultimately a share of the spoils was perhaps the right result in yesterday’s local derby in front of a slightly disappointing crowd at Station Park.

The home side should have taken the lead in the early stages of the contest, squandering a couple of clear goal scoring opportunities and having a strong penalty claim waived a side.

However, Callum Hendry with a fine piece of opportunism gave City the lead in the 23rd minute and from that moment on the ‘Loons’ struggled to find any cohesion or creativity in their play.

They did, however, bounce back into the contest with twenty minutes remaining when Michael Travis headed them level from close range and from then on inlaid siege to Conor Brennan’s goal.

That crucial winning goal, however, eluded them and thoughts now turn immediately to the third derby in as many weeks scheduled for Links Park this coming Saturday.
