Summary
The ‘Loons’ will get a quick opportunity to put their defeat from Stranraer behind them when they return to KDM Evolution Trophy action on Tuesday evening with a visit to the Granite City for a clash with Highland League side Banks O’Dee.
The sides of course met in pre-season, a 2-2 draw the final outcome on the day, a result which will have little relevance going into the midweek tie.
The Athies go into the contest having lost their opening game against Aberdeen’s youngsters, their second scheduled fixture against Formartine of course abandoned early in the second period.
A victory is therefore a priority in midweek with a few even tougher games on paper to come in the group stages, a more than reasonable financial reward awaiting clubs who qualify for the knock-out stages.
The ‘Loons’ will head north with a fairly threadbare squad, with four of the loan players listed on Saturday’s team sheet due to return to play for their parent clubs in this tournament.
The home side go into the tie on the back of a 5-0 away win in the Breedon Highland League on Saturday against bottom of the table Rothes in Morayshire.
They currently sit in seventh place in the league table with fifteen points accrued from seven matches played.
