The ‘Loons head to Newtown Park in Bo’ness on Saturday first for a clash with Bo’ness United in the second round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup.
First and foremost, we would again reiterate that the kick-off is at the normal time of 3 p.m. not 12 noon as stated on the BBC Sport website and other social media platforms at present.
The Athies will go into the game on a run of four consecutive 2-1 defeats in competitive fixtures, but the ‘tide’ has to turn at some point, so why not in the country’s premier cup competition.
By contrast, Bo’ness, who sit ninth in the Lowland League East table, had an excellent 3-1 home win over our neighbours Brechin City on Saturday past, having won 4-0 at Crossgates the previous weekend in a South Regional Cup tie.
For the ‘Loons’ it will be the seventh season running that we have met opposition from outside the SPFL in the early stages of the national tournament, the challenge of Musselburgh Athletic, Berwick Rangers, Huntly, Tranent, Kilwinning Rangers, Formartine United and Linlithgow Rose having been overcome, at times by the narrowest of margins, it has to be said.
Admission prices on Saturday are;-
Adults £12
Concessions ( over 65 & students) £8
Under 16s – to be confirmed
Payment is by cash at the turnstile only.
A full preview of the fixture will appear on FAFC social media channels on Friday.
