Forfar Athletic 2 Airdrieonians 0

The ‘Loons’ extended their undefeated league run to six matches with a well-deserved success over their Lanarkshire visitors at a windy Station Park yesterday afternoon.
The conditions played their part in a first half which saw the home side have the upper hand with the elements seemingly in their favour, Dylan Easton coming closest to breaking the deadlock with a fierce low drive which smacked the post.
With four minutes of the first period remaining it was Gary Irvine on his home debut who opened the scoring with a candidate for Goal of the Season, a stunning strike from not far short of 40 yards out which flew past David Hutton in the Airdrie goal into the roof of the net.
Playing against the wind in the second period, the home side nevertheless had a stranglehold on proceedings and after spurning a few opportunities, they eventually sealed the points when Adam Eckersley also opened his account for the club with a left-foot strike from an acute angle after a piercing move down the left flank.
Another great team effort from the Athies, the only slight disappointment on the day the crowd of 538.
All roads now lead to Links Park on Saturday first.
