The ‘Loons’ picked up their first league point since September 21st in the driving rain at Starks Park last night and how hard the thirteen players in the Athies colours worked for it.
In a game to be fair of few ‘concrete’ chances, the visiting players all gave one hundred per cent commitment throughout in testing conditions and no one begrudged them the share of the spoils at the end of the ninety minutes.
The highlight of the game came in all probability in the very first minute, a save right out of the top drawer from Marc McCallum low down to his right to block a net bound strike from Jamie Gullan.
John Baird and Ross Matthews had opportunities for the home side while Kieron Bowie clipped the crossbar, prior to the half time whistle, Dale Hilson nearest to finding the net for the visitors as he at times ploughed a lone furrow upfront.
The second half was pretty much a ‘war of attrition’ with the ‘Loons’ more than holding their own to gain a deserved reward for their efforts, at the same time Raith's point meant they were unable to overtake Airdrie at the top end of the table.
Stuart Malcolm on his league debut as the Forfar boss was no doubt delighted with his players work rate and endeavour and hopefully, this can be translated into a much-needed victory when Peterhead are the visitors to Station Park on Saturday first.
Forfar lined up – McCallum, Meechan, Bain, Whyte, Travis, Irvine, Tapping (Coupe), Docherty, Hilson, Kirkpatrick(Forbes), MacKintosh Subs not used – Burns, Robertson. Jackson, McLean, McGuff
Booked – Bain, Hilson
