Stirling Albion under the management this season of former Rangers defender Steven Whittaker are the visitors to the Parkgrove Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday on match day three in the William Hill League2 camapign.

The ‘Loons’ will be hoping to build on a promising start to the league season, a win and a draw the reward from the opening fixtures against Kelty Hearts and Elgin City.

Manager Jim Weir has been delighted with the outcome of those two matches, the only disappointment that after losing an early goal at Borough Briggs last weekend, then netting a deserved equaliser, his side were unable to convert a couple of second half chances that could have clinched all three points.

To be fair the home side also had a golden opportunity with a close range header in the dying embers of the contest.

Jim’s squad for the visit of the ‘Binos’ could again be stretched as the quest to add a couple of new faces continues.

Craig Slater has started his battle to regain full fitness but he has a few weeks of rehabilitation ahead, while Ross McLean is a doubt for the Albion clash after he suffered an ankle knock in Tuesday night’s KDM tie.

Jake Dolzanski and Adam Livingstone returned to full training on Thursday night and if they show no adverse reaction could feature on the bench for the clash with the Forthbank outfit.

Marc McCallum is also struggling to regain full fitness.

The home management team made a few changes for Tuesday night’s tie with the young ‘Dons’ but an all round poor first half showing from the home side saw the visitors take command of the match.

In the same competition Albion had an excellent home win over Cove, this result coming on the back of a 3-2 defeat at Kelty last Saturday, that man of many clubs, Forfar being one of them Russell MacLean on the score sheet, the home side’s winner coming in the last minute of the ninety.

Stirling brought in nine new faces during the summer months, Jordan Allan scorer of both their goals in the home win two weeks back against Dumbarton one of the more ‘eye catching,’

The Athies actually netted eleven goals in recording three victories over the ‘Binos’ last term, but are unlikely to find the current Albion rearguard in such a benevolent mood.

However on the evidence of the 180 plus minutes of league action to date, there is no reason why the home side cannot go on to make it three undefeated, prior to a couple of away fixtures on the horizon against Clyde and Edinburgh City.

Saturday’s referee is Jordan Curran.
