For the second time in a matter of months one of the reasonably rare Forfar born and bred players to have worn the club’s colours over the past sixty years has died.
Tommy Cormie passed away in Finavon Court Nursing Home on Wednesday of last week after a long illness a the age of 82.
Tommy joined the ‘Loons’ in 1957 from Forfar Celtic and spent three seasons at Station Park.
He was a member of the side which gave a mighty Rangers team of the time a fright before going down 3-1 at Station Park in a momentous cup-tie in January of 1959.
Tommy who was a well known figure in the town until illness struck some years back.
The sympathy of all at Station Park is expressed to his widow Irene and family at this time.
Of course Tommy’s son Stephen and his family are very much part of the Station Park ‘fabric’ these days as die hard followers of the ‘Loons’ cause.
