Loons manager Jim Weir is not surprisingly looking forward to the away fixture with the ‘Bully Wee’ at New Douglas Park on Saturday following the comfortable victory over Stirling Albion last weekend.
The Forfar management team were delighted with what was a really encouraging ‘team’ performance against the ‘Binos’ which extended our unbeaten start to the William Hill League2 campaign.
Jim felt that there was not a failure in his side’s ranks on the day giving particular mention to the strikers who caused the Stirling defence no end of bother throughout the ninety minutes.
Ever the pragmatist however Jim reflects on the fact that we were in the exact same position last season and then had a week sticky spell which began with a double header of away games as it does this time round.
No repeat and let’s build on the confident mode currently in the ‘camp’ from the first whistle on Saturday is the clear message.
Jim is well aware of the depth and quality within the Clyde ranks and knows that Darren Young’s side are determined to improve upon their third place finish last season and eventual defeat in the League1 Play-off Final.
However the Athies as do in fact all clubs have similar ambitions at this early stage of the campaign.
Results between the sides last term could not have been tighter and that is no understatement. All four fixtures ended in a draw, two 1-1 results and two goalless encounters the overall outcome.
The ‘Loons’ boss is also delighted that the early season injuries woes are clearing up with Jake Dolzanski and Adam Livingstone both confirmed as back to full fitness following another couple of midweek training sessions.
Clyde in fact have probably made fewer additions to their squad than some over the summer months, seven at the last count, Nathan Cannon sidelined by injury in recent times one of those as he made his loan move from Station Park permanent.
Defender Logan Dunnachie is another in the home ranks to have worn the ‘Loons’ colours.
In their three league games to date Clyde have defeated Stranraer and Annan, losing by the only goal of the game on the inaugural match on Dumbarton’s new 4G pitch in between.
A reminder to Forfar Athletic supporters that this is indeed the first of two successive away league fixtures, the second of which against Edinburgh City will be played on Friday evening of next week at Meadowbank.
The man in the middle on Saturday is Josh Hay.
