Forfar Athletic v Elgin City – Match Information
[Tuesday, 07 January 2025 19:47]
The ‘Loons’ return to home ‘soil’ in the William Hill League2 on Saturday first when they welcome Elgin City to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park.
It certainly does not get any easier for Jim Weir and his squad with the Boroughbriggs outfit sitting second in the league table, despite their scheduled fixture on Saturday past at home to Spartans being called off due to a frozen pitch.
Both matches between the sides this term to date have been close fought affairs, a 1-1 draw the outcome at Station Park back in August, City just edging proceedings up north by a final score line of 2-1 in mid November.
The Athies will go into Saturday’s contest in confident mode nevertheless, unbeaten at home so far since Jim and Gavin arrived on the scene and boosted by the return of Craig Slater to the ranks. Jim continues to work exceptionally hard behind the scenes with hopes high of another signing prior to the weekend.
The club have been up front over the past week as to their current financial position and the Directors have been delighted with the response to date in regard to the Fighting Fund appeal. Donations to the Fund can still be made here ➡️ https://gofund.me/824caf5e
All connected with the ‘Loons’ were thrilled with the turnout at the Stirling Albion fixture and also the number of fans who travelled over to Methil on Saturday past, 115 to be exact according to East Fife officials to lend their backing on a bitterly cold afternoon. This support from the stand and terracing is so appreciated by the management and players in particular but also as far as home games are concerned by the Club’s Finance Director.
If even half of the extra 200 supporters who turned out for the game back on December 28th make the effort once again this coming Saturday, it will be a great boost to those mentioned above but also to the hard core and so faithful fans who are the backbone of the club and turn out in all weathers from July to May season by season.
It will take a great ‘team’ effort in the remaining weeks of the season to secure the obvious aim of retaining our SPFL status, but all know it can without doubt be achieved.
The match on Saturday will have the usual 3pm. kick-off.
Admission prices are as follows;-
