Stirling Albion v Forfar Athletic – Match Preview
[Friday, 14 February 2025 15:52]
The ‘Loons’ head to Forthbank Stadium on Saturday, the first of three successive away fixtures with trips to Bonnyrigg a week on Saturday and to the Capital city to face Spartans on Tuesday week also on the horizon.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s contest, Jim Weir assured all supporters that the players and management team realise that victories are a must in the club’s current predicament, anchored as they are at the foot of the William Hill league2 table. It is now two months since a three point haul was obtained with a stunning 5-1 home success against Bonnyrigg and with now fourteen games remaining, a start must be made and soon to bridging the now eight point gap between the Athies and Stranraer currently occupying ninth place.
Last week’s single goal defeat at home to Edinburgh City was a disappointment to all, the first half display in particular indifferent to say the least.
However and it is not ‘sour grapes’ in the players’ defence two vital and inept decisions as proved by video evidence, one at Peterhead by the man in the middle, the second last week by the enclosure side assistant referee have been a major blow to the ‘Loons’ hopes on the day. Jim Weir in fact had a frank and amicable chat with Willie Collum the SFA Referee supremo on the subject in midweek.
There are no fresh injuries to report ahead of the visit to Stirling, although Adam Hutchinson and Josh Skelly remain sidelined, the former hopefully due to return to active service next week, the latter still at least two weeks away from full recovery.
The ‘Binos’ managed by Alan Maybury ‘cemented’ their current fifth placing in the table with an excellent 3-1 win over Elgin City last weekend, a familiar face to ‘Loons’ fans Dale Hilson one of their goal scorers.
Gary Hanvidge is the referee for the contest which has the normal 3pm. kick-off.
