Friendly success for 'Loons'

A Forfar Athletic X1 defeated Forfar West End 3-1 in a hastily arranged friendly at Station Park last night.

Although the underfoot conditions were excellent, the game was played throughout in a torrential downpour, but nevertheless was an extremely worthwhile ninety minutes of match action for both sides.

All the goals came in the second half, the home marksmen, Craig Smith from the penalty spot, Michael Kennedy and Jamie Gill.

Major plus factors for the watching Station Park management team came in the shape of the recently injured Thomas O’Brien and Derek Young getting 45  and 60 minutes of game time respectively, while Omar Kader completed a full ninety minute stint.

Gavin Malin who has returned to the ‘Loons’ following his loan spell at Montrose but who is unavailable for Saturday’s trip to Linlithgow as he is cup tied was also in the home starting eleven.
