Hard fought victory for Development Team

The ‘Loons’ Development side with Kevin McNaughton and Josh Peters in the starting line-up secured a 3-2 win over Tayport Juniors courtesy of a second half fight back in a hard fought friendly at Station Park last night.
Dale Reid gave the visitors a first half lead, before Jamie Penker netted the equaliser with a header from a Joseph Johnson corner.
Reid was again on the mark to put Tayport 2-1 up before the interval.
In an evenly contested second period the Athies levelled the scores with a gem of a strike from 20 yards out from Joseph Johnson, before substitute Max Avolio netted the winner in the 85th minute with a close range effort.
These ‘friendly’ fixtures against junior opposition are undoubtedly beneficial to the ‘Loons’ backroom staff, not the least for the very reason that at times they can in fact be more competitive than Development League tussles.
The Station Park side still have two SPFL Development League East fixtures to play to complete their programme.
A visit to Berwick is on the cards for April 11th, with Cowdenbeath due at Station Park on the 17th of April.
An interesting friendly has been fixed up for Tuesday of next week.
Lowland League outfit Edusport Academy’s Under 20 side who have made their mark in the Scottish Youth Cup in recent times will provide the opposition with a 7.30p.m. kick-off.
