All Angus Friendly Ends in Draw

Forfar Athletic 1 Montrose 1
Forfar and Montrose shared the spoils last night in what was both sides second pre
season match of the new season. A draw was probably a fair reflection on proceedings
with the Loons enjoying the best of the first half, and the visitors looking
stronger in the second period.
The home side should have taken the lead on 15 minutes when an Iain Campbell corner
was floated across the six yard box only to see Bolochoweckyj fail to connect by
inches.
Forfar had soon created further chances with Crawford firing straight at the
Montrose keeper and Iain Campbell shooting wide from 18 yards out. Montrose's best
efforts of the first half came when Martin Boyle, an early substitute, was involved,
however the match remained goalless at the iinterval.
On the hour mark Boyle was released down the right wing by a Montrose trialist and
as he cut inside the box was felled by Mark McCulloch. John Crawford dispatched the
penalty to give his side the lead.
The Loons levelled after 75 minutes when a Stevie Crawford pass found Ross Campbell
inside the box and the Forfar striker fired past the trialist keeper for the
equaliser.
Both managers agreed it had been a decent workout for their sides with Dick Campbell
most pleased with his trialist full back and Ray Farningham not surprisingly singing
the praises of Martin Boyle.
