Peterhead 2 Forfar Athletic 2

Forfar fought back against high flying Peterhead to claim a point amidst blustery conditions at Balmoor.
The game got off to the worst possible start for those of a Forfar persuasion, as Ciaran Shanks latched on to a long ball that was caught in the wind. His shot took a deflection on its way into the net to give the Blue Toon the lead.
Things got worse for the Loons after 22 minutes. A cross from the right appeared to strike Cammy Logan in the face before drifting out for a corner. The match refereee seemed to be the only one in the ground who saw differently and pointed to the spot for handball.
Shanks dispatched the ball excellently for his second goal of the game.
The Loons almost pulled one back moments later when Ross MacLean found himself in behind but Blessing Oluyemi got down well to stop the goal bound shot.
Forfar felt they should have had a penalty of their own when Craig Slater’s corner struck the arm of a Peterhead player, the referee however was unmoved.
Shooting in to the wind, the visitors got off to just as good a start as the hosts did, scoring after four minutes of the second period.
Russell McLean got the ball down, drove at his man and made his way into the box before unleashing an excellent drive in to the bottom corner.
The Loons were on top and almost equalised minutes later when Cammy Logan’s effort from a Marley Sweenie-Rowe cross rebounded off the bar and was cleared.
The Athies, boosted by the introduction of debutants Declan Byrne and Reuben McAllister, went in search of an equaliser and it came in the 85th minute.
The Peterhead defence misjudged a header over the top and it was Byrne who latched on to the ball and slotted under the goalkeeper to draw the Loons level.
McLean and Slater both had half chances blocked as Forfar applied pressure in a bid to find a winner but it was Peterhead who had the best chance to snatch the points. Seb Ross forced Marc McCallum in to a good save at the death.
Next up is a long trip south to Stranraer, where Stuart Morrison and his colleagues will be hoping to avenge last weeks defeat.
