Forfar Athletic v Turriff United - Match Preview
[Thursday, 04 July 2013 22:56]
The ‘Loons’ will begin their pre-season fixtures with a first ever visit to Station Park of Highland League Turriff United on Saturday first.
The Aberdeenshire outfit began life as Highland League club in August of 2009 and last season they finished in 11th position.
They did however have an excellent Scottish Cup pedigree last term being the last non league club left in the tournament prior to being knocked out by Morton in a replay at Cappielow in the fourth round in mid December, having drawn 1-1 with Alan Moore’s charges at Turriff.
Dick Campbell has a few players unavailable due to holiday and other commitments, but all four newcomers who have put pen to paper on one year deals in the summer, Mark Baxter, Stuart Malcolm, Gary Fusco and Paul McManus are in the pool.
That pool is due to be strengthened further prior to Saturday’s game with experienced defensive duo Marvin Andrews and Darren Dods having agreed terms for one year contracts with the Station Park outfit.
Saturday’s game has the normal 3 pm kick-off with admission charges reduced to £5 for adults, £3 concessions.
Season ticket holders should utilise voucher one.
