Forfar Athletic FC Golf Day 2013.

There has been strong support for the annual golf day and we are fast approaching the point of putting up the ‘Event Full’ sign so if local businesses or supporters are looking to enter a team then we strongly recommend an early contact be made to ensure a place.

The event will take place on 23rd August 2013 at Forfar Golf Course. This is a change from the usual midweek date to a Friday which we understand should be more suitable for a number of players and we thank Forfar Golf Club for being flexible regarding the arrangements.

To add some extra spice to the event some star prizes will be on offer for holes in one at the four short holes incorporating - a Mini, a Golfing Holiday in Portugal, a Golfing Weekend at Marriott Forest of Arden & a full set of Callaway RAZR Irons & Putter. We are indebted to Quinn Safety Consultancy for sponsoring the hole in one prizes and also the now legendary Refreshments Tent which once again will be manned by club secretary Dave McGregor.

We have a full list of sponsored holes and The Rotational Ball Competition is supported by St Andrews Links Trust and, needless to say, we are grateful to the Trust and the numerous local businesses who have readily signed up to give this support.. The Auction this year will include specially prepared Flag Pins autographed by a former British Open winner, a set of classic irons donated by long term supporter Len Williamson and a voucher from local hoteliers Kinnettles Castle to name but three.

The format for the day follows the usual lines of teams of four (Male &/or Female) playing for two Stableford competitions. There are also a number of individual special prizes on offer covering nearest the hole, longest drive and nearest the hole in two shots which will keep interest going up to the final hole. A raffle and auction will take place around 8.00pm and will be conducted by Club manager Dick Campbell who will be sure to add some more fun to the proceedings.

The winning team in the main competition last year was Avenue Scotland Recruitment a team including Dick, Ian Campbell and John Young and the winners of the other competition was long term event supporter Strathtay Potato Company captained by John Smith. Not surprisingly both will be returning this year to defend their trophies. The winning team this year will walk away with the specially commissioned and limited edition Forfar Athletic Golf Bags which was on show for the first time last year.
