Of The Loons
The ‘Loons’ will head to Somerset Park on Saturday for their first competitive away fixture of the season to meet a home side who will be in extremely good heart following on their impressive 3-0 away success at Arbroath on Saturday past.
By all accounts the ‘Honest Men’ were also unlucky to go down 2-1 away to Partick Thistle the previous midweek in the first round of the League Cup.
Last season the clubs clashed five times in league and cup with Dick Campbell’s men coming out on top on four occasions, the exception a 2-1 defeat down at Somerset in February.
The visitors will go into the game minus the suspended Mark McCulloch and Iain Campbell, though Michael Dunlop will return to the pool.
The manager will also be hopeful that a couple of the players who missed the Airdrie fixture through injury may be fit to return.
The match is the first of four away fixtures on the ‘bounce’ for the Station Park men, the 130 mile trip to the Ayrshire coast being followed by less time consuming trips to Dens Park twice and Glebe Park.
Saturday’s game will be refereed by Mat Northcroft.
