MATCH PREVIEW: Dundee v Forfar Athletic
[Monday, 26 August 2013 17:46]
The ‘Loons’ will head to Dens Park on Tuesday night for their second round tie in the League Cup on the back of three successive away defeats, one of those of course the 3-1 extra time loss at the same venue in the Ramsdens last midweek.
This was followed by the odd goal in three reverse at Brechin on Saturday, while at the same time Dundee were picking up a point in a goalless draw with Raith Rovers at Starks Park.
There is little doubting that the Station Park men were slightly unfortunate to lose out to John Brown’s side last week. However the home side will again start as favourites, but Forfar fans will take heart from the fact that their side’s performances in cup matches to date have been more impressive by a distance when compared to their league form.
Daren Dods suspended at Glebe Park will return to the squad as will hopefully Stuart Malcolm a last minute call off on Saturday past when his wife went into labour.
Skipper Mark McCulloch will miss out however following the injury sustained in last week’s tie.
Dick Campbell is working hard to further strengthen his squad before the ‘window’ closes this weekend, but whether any business can be completed in advance of the cup-tie is doubtful.
The kick off is again 7.45 pm admission charges £10 for adults and £5 concessions. The match will be refereed by Glasgow based official Barry Cook.
As previously intimated the away support this week will be housed in the Bob Shankly Stand.
Three hundred ‘Loons’ fans made the trip last Tuesday and it would be fantastic if a similar number turned out tomorrow evening.
