William Hill Scottish Cup 3rd round draw

Forfar Athletic enter this season’s William Hill Scottish Cup at the third round stage with ties due to be played on Saturday November 2nd.

The draw for the third rouns, it has been announced, will take place at Hampden Park on Monday 7th October at 1 pm.

The winners of the sixteen second round ties due this Saturday involving the ten league two outfits and twenty two non league clubs or of course those involved in potential replays will be joined in the ‘bowl’ at Hampden by the ten league one outfits and six sides from the Championship. Those six clubs are Hamilton Accies, Raith Rovers, Dumbarton and Cowdenbeath who finished in 5th/8th position in last seasons SFL second tier and Queen of the South and Alloa Athletic who were promoted from the third tier.

Of course for the second season running there is the unusual prospect at this stage of the competition as there will still be next year of a money spinning away tie at Ibrox. However progressing to the last sixteen of the tournament for example can also be financially rewarding as the ‘Loons’ found out last season taking the share of sponsorship and television monies into account.
