MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Dunfermline Athletic
[Friday, 04 October 2013 09:03]
The ‘Loons’ go into tomorrow’s game with second in the table Dunfermline Athletic at Station Park propping up the rest of the league, a scenario that to be quite frank no home supporter or for that matter football pundit expected back in the ‘heady’ days of early August when Rangers had been defeated and the league campaign was looked forward to by all with confidence.
However as Dick Campbell stated earlier this week it is time for the talking to be done on the park, not off it.
The home side go into the game against the ‘Pars’ with no new injury doubts, but with the four long term injury victims still sidelined.
They will also be missing Gavin Swankie following his last minute red card at Arbroath which brought with it an automatic one game suspension.
Despite the limitations of his player pool at present a couple of changes are likely with Gavin Malin and Paul McManus favourites to return to the starting eleven and the home management team are determined to send their side out in a positive frame of mind.
Jim Jeffries young side are tucked in behind Rangers in second spot and are probably disappointed that their highly anticipated tilt at the Ibrox side next weekend has fallen victim to the home side’s international calls.
The East End Park side are on a five game unbeaten league run which began with an astonishing comeback from 4-2 down with ten minutes to go at Stenhousemuir and culminated in a sparkling 5-1 home success over Ayr United last Saturday.
Their last visit to Station Park in May saw them lose 3-1 to the ‘Loons’ in the first leg of the play-off semi final, the second leg one to forget for all connected with the Athies.
Saturday’s contest sponsored by Alan Davie Transport will be handled by the experienced Alan Muir a member of the Premiership refereeing panel.
