MATCH PREVIEW: Stenhousemuir v Forfar Athletic
[Friday, 25 October 2013 10:43]
The ‘Loons’ will attempt to make it back to back away victories at Ochilview following on their impressive showing at the Excelsior Stadium last Saturday.
Thankfully the Manager has no new injury problems with Neil McCabe who took a ‘sore one’ in the dying embers of the Airdrie game able to participate in a full training session on Thursday night.
Martyn Fotheringham does return to the squad and in all probability a place on the bench following his participation in a game against Brechin Vics on Tuesday night when he netted a brace in a 6-0 win.
Jamie McCluskey who was in the starting line up last week will again be involved in his third game as a trialist.
The home side sit in second place in the table on seventeen points, seven ahead of the Station Park side. Following on a 3-2 win over Brechin City in their last home game, they lost to a Chris Aitken penalty strike down at Stranraer last Saturday.
They of course have a national semi-final on the horizon with Rangers due as visitors on Tuesday night of next week in the Ramsdens Cup.
Forfar’s results at Ochilview last season were to say the least mixed. In early season they turned in a superb performance to thump the ‘Warriors’ 4-0, but then in early January they were ‘not at the races’, the final 2-0 score line in favour of the home side flattering the ‘Loons.’
Earlier this season, Martyn Corrigan’s side won 2-1 at Station Park with as ever big John Gemmell causing the home rearguard a few problems along the way.
Saturday’s fixture the last league game before the one week break for Scottish Cup ties will be refereed by David Somers, the third time this season he will have been involved in a ‘Loons’ fixture although on one occasions it was as a fourth official.
