MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Brechin City
[Friday, 08 November 2013 09:53]
Tomorrow’s keenly anticipated as ever local derby sees the ‘Loons’ and Brechin City go into the game with only a point separating them in the league table after indifferent starts to the season for both clubs.
However both sides will enter the fray on the back of excellent Scottish Cup victories last Saturday which of course have set up another mouth watering clash between the sides in three weeks time.
City won the early season fixture between the sides at the Glebe 2-1 courtesy of goals from Craig Molloy and Alan Trouten, Forfar only coming to life in the dying embers of the game when Iain Campbell reduced the leeway with minutes to spare from the spot. He then went on to see a second penalty four minutes into added time saved.
Brechin’s pool has been boosted in recent weeks with the acquisition on loan of Darren Petrie from Dundee United and Andy Ryan from Hamilton Accies and both will be in Ray McKinnon’s pool that makes the short journey to Station Park.
The home side will also have a new face in their ranks, following Craig Storie’s arrival from Aberdeen earlier in the week on a short term temporary transfer.
There are a few minor knocks to overcome in the squad, but nothing serious, although Rab Douglas will continue between the sticks with Darren Hill ruled out.
The ‘Loons’ fringe players all enjoyed some match action in a 2-2 friendly draw with Tayport on Tuesday night, Stuart Malcolm and youngster Paul McLellan the home marksmen.
The referee for the derby clash is one of the most experienced on the Grade One list Calum Murray who was last in town for the famous victory over Rangers in August.
Home season ticket holders should utilise voucher number eleven.
