MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Ayr United
[Friday, 20 December 2013 08:47]
Station Park will tomorrow host it’s last fixture of what has been a very busy 2013 when fourth in the table Ayr United make the journey north.
The ‘Honest Men’ lost three times on visits to the ‘toonie’ last season on league and cup business, but they are already one up on the ‘Loons’ this term following what was a well deserved 2-0 success at Somerset Park back in August.
Mark Robert’s side sit four points above the home side in the league table, but they will be keen to bounce back after what has been an exceptionally tough start to December month. Following a 1-0 cup replay defeat at East End Park, they lost 3-0 at Ibrox, before losing again to the ‘Pars’ last week down at Ayr. Despite the home side going into a 2-0 lead, the final score line was 4-2 in favour of Jim Jeffries outfit.
Dick Campbell’s side will definitely go into the game minus Gavin Swankie and Odmar Færø while Dale Hilson will face a late fitness test, having trained on Thursday night following the injury he sustained at Ibrox earlier in the month. Gary Fusco, a late call off last Saturday, will return.
The homesters will be keen to secure a three point haul as ever, especially before they embark on two difficult away trips to Stair Park and Glebe Park in the space of five days on December 28th and January 2nd.
Their is no doubt however that their defensive qualities, so evident in recent times will be tested by the opposition trio of Michael Moffat, Kevin Kyle and Craig Malcolm.
Saturday’s match is sponsored by Agritrader and the referee is Don Robertson who was the man in the middle for the ‘Loons’ derby clash at Gayfield back in September.
