‘Loons’ Chairman Alastair Donald has issued a rallying call to Forfar Athletic fans to turn out in their numbers on Saturday for the eagerly anticipated clash with Premiership St. Johnstone at Station Park in the last sixteen of the William Hill Scottish Cup.
Interviewed by Sarah McLean of the Forfar Dispatch, the Chairman commented on how the Station Park outfit are the only Angus club to have reached this stage of the national tournament for the second season running.
He added that the Forfar Directors had been amazed with a travelling support of over 400 at the Falkirk Stadium to support their side at this stage of the competition a year ago, while a similar number travelled to Dunfermline in May for the Play-Off Semi Final.
His great hope is that with a home tie on this occasion and against our illustrious neighbours, the home support will be at least double that figure and hopefully even hit the four figure mark. This would mean a similar number backing the side in sky blue, as is expected to make the 30 mile trip north to back the visitors.
Alastair ended the piece by remarking on the superb achievement of the players in reaching this stage following nail biting successes over fellow League One clubs East Fife and Brechin City and trusted that those performances would draw the support they merited.
