MATCH PREVIEW: Ayr United v Forfar Athletic
[Monday, 03 March 2014 11:35]
The ‘Loons’ get an almost immediate opportunity to bounce back from the disappointing result at Ochilview on Saturday when they make the lengthy midweek journey to Somerset Park, Ayr on Tuesday night.
They will come up against a home side currently sitting in fourth place in the table, seven points ahead of the Station Park men. Mark Roberts side have also had the better of the exchanges between the team’s this term to date, following up a 2-0 home victory in late August with an only goal of the game success on the Saturday before Christmas at Station Park.
Ayr will however go into the match with three players serving suspensions. Michael Moffat sits out the fourth and final game of his ban, while Adam Hunter and Kyle McAusland both saw red in the ‘Honest Men’s’ 3-0 defeat at Airdrie on Saturday past.
Looking at Saturday’s results it will obviously be a clash of two ‘wounded animals’ keen to get back on the winning way before home local derbies at the weekend.
Forfar will travel west minus Odmar Faeroe who is on international duty with the Faroe Islands, but hope to have Martyn Fotheringham back in the ranks after missing the Stenhousemuir fixture suffering from a heavy cold.
Tuesday night’s fixture will be refereed by Premier League official Craig Charleston.
