MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Brechin City
[Thursday, 06 March 2014 17:04]
Forfar Athletic and Brechin City will go into battle for the sixth time this season at Station Park on Saturday with only a point seperating them in the League One table.
The home side will go into the game in good heart following an excellent performance and victory over Ayr United at Somerset Park on Tuesday past, which quickly banished the memory of a disappointing last thirty minutes at Stenhousemuir on the previous Saturday.
Dick Campbell will welcome Odmar Faeroe back from international duty to his squad for the game with in fact little change expected to the starting line up despite one or two wee niggling injuries carried forward from the Ayr game.
Skipper Gavin Swankie with five goals in the last four league games will be hoping to build on that momentum against a visiting side who have recorded one win from the previous five clashes this campaign.
The ‘Loons’ have come out on top in the previous two league matches including the surprise 5-1 January success at Glebe Park.
Ray McKinnon’s side will make the short journey with more than a few injury worries. Alan Trouten is still recovering from a long term injury, while defenders Jonathan Brown, Ewan Moyes and Gary Kenneth all failed to survive the ninety minutes in last Saturday’s local derby with Arbroath. According to reports all will be absentees for at least the remainder of the current month.
This scenario as would be the case with any part-time club will stretch City’s resources, but their players especially with the derby atmosphere will no doubt be up to the task in hand.
The referee for the fixture is Ayrshire based Kevin Graham who also took charge of the ‘Loons’ derby clash at Arbroath only two weeks back.
The match sponsor is that great backer of the Station Park cause Iain Bett under his Tteb banner.
