MATCH PREVIEW:Dunfermline Athletic v Forfar Athletic
[Friday, 11 April 2014 08:51]
After a break last weekend due to Rangers cup exploits, the ‘Loons’ get back into action with a tough assignment through at East End Park, Dunfermline on Saturday against a ‘Pars’ side who have already made certain of a play-off spot at the right end of the table.
The break has certainly benefited Dick Campbell’s troops with quite a few niggling injuries given time to clear and the Manager will certainly have a better depth of pool to choose from than was the case with the East Fife fixture two weeks back.
Apart from the long term injury list which now also includes Rab Douglas and Odmar Faeroe, only Marvin Andrews remained a doubt as he received treatment further treatment prior to training on Thursday night.
Darren Dods returns from suspension, although Ian Campbell sits out the game, the second of his two game ban.
The Station Park men are still not mathematically clear of the relegation play-off spot and following defeats from Airdrie and East Fife they will be keen to get back into points gathering mode against a home side who have only recorded one win in their last six league outings.
Honours are even to date in the jousts between the sides this term, Jim Jeffries team having come unstuck to the tune of 4-0 back at Station Park in early October. Then in the December clash in Fife, only a last minute goal salvaged a 1-1 draw for the home side, but it was the Fifers who came up trumps with a 4-2 victory in a thrilling encounter at Station Park two months back.
Saturday’s man in the middle will be Ayrshire based Greg Aitken who was the 4th official at Sunday’s Ramsdens Cup Final.
Hopefully a fair number of ‘Loons’ fans will make the relatively short journey down the motorway to Dunfermline on Saturday to support Dick and his ‘troops.’
