MATCH PREVIEW: Rangers v Forfar Athletic
[Monday, 14 April 2014 14:44]
The ‘Loons’ will travel to Ibrox on Tuesday night in relatively good heart after a gutsy performance and a more than deserved point gained at Dunfermline on Saturday.
That point allied to results elsewhere at the weekend more or less guaranteed League One football for the ‘Loons’ next season and to be fair four wins from their final run of fixtures would in all probability mean a play-off spot. However gaining the first of those successes against a Rangers side, so far unbeaten in league fixtures will be no easy task, but nothing in life is impossible.
Certainly the ‘Loons’ players will be keen to improve on their previous showing at Ibrox in December when they ended up losing by 6-1.
Rangers will of course go into the game on the back of two cup tie defeats and no doubt will be keen to bring the ‘curtain down’ on their tenure in Scotland’s third tier of league football with a four game winning run.
Dick Campbell will welcome back Iain Campbell after a two game suspension while Martyn Fotheringham should have recovered from a rib injury sustained in training last Thursday which saw him fail a late fitness test prior to Saturday’s match with the ‘Pars.’
Jamie McCluskey is however unlikely to have recovered from the first half injury sustained at East End Park.
Tuesday night’s fixture will be refereed by Craig Charleston with the kick off at 7.45 pm.
A reminder to ‘Loons’ fans that tickets for the away support section of the stadium will be available at the Toy Castle in Castle Street until 12.30p.m. on the day of the game.
