Frank Kopel who was Assistant Manager of the ‘Loons’ in the early nineties when the playing side of the club was under the stewardship of his great friend Paul Hegarty has died at the age of 65.
Frank who lived in Kirriemuir had been suffering for a few years from Alzheimer’s and his wife Amanda has been pursuing a campaign through many channels in recent times for better care for people with the illness.
Frank who is best remembered for his days as a player at Dundee United, also made twelve first team appearances during a spell at Old Trafford.
His son Scott followed in his father’s footsteps at Tannadice and had a spell as a player at Station Park under Tommy Campbell, scoring a memorable televised goal against Queen of the South in a Scottish Cup tie.
The sympathy of all connected with Forfar Athletic are extended at this sad time to Amanda, Scott and his family.
