The 1984 Lounge - open for business on Saturday
[Monday, 11 August 2014 11:16]
Forfar Athletic supporters will have a new facility available to them at Saturday’s home game with Dunfermline Athletic where they can enjoy for the first time a match day drink and a chat with fellow fans with the opening of the 1984 Lounge within the new hospitality unit.
The lounge will open from 12.30p.m. onwards to facilitate the early arrival of match sponsors and hospitality guests who will be enjoying the delights throughout the afternoon of the five new sponsor and hospitality lounges within the complex and will remain open up till kick off. Last orders will be at 2.45p.m.
It will then re-open on the final whistle with closing time expected to be around 7.30p.m.
The facility it has to be emphasised will however only be available at half-time to those supporters who have taken up the additional option of purchasing in advance the seasonal pass card at a cost of £50. The last chance for match season ticket holders to purchase this pass and take up this offer specifically from Saturday first is Thursday evening. They will be available at the Secretary’s office from 6.30p.m. to 7.30p.m.
The pass allows fans to relax in comfort throughout the half time break, enjoy a pie, tea and coffee while watching the half time scores and match reports on a wide screen television.
With so much on their ‘plate’ this Saturday club officials have decided to wait until the Morton fixture on the 30th of August for the official opening/naming ceremony of the new complex.
It has however been themed on the fact that it is 30 years since the club won it’s first national league title in spectacular and record breaking fashion and the manager and captain of that side Doug Houston and Ian McPhee will be in attendance to do the honours on the day.
The main lounge is being named the 1984 lounge, while the sponsors lounge will be known as the Sam Smith lounge in memory of the Chairman of that era who assisted by his Directors of the time did so much hard work behind the scenes to bring success to Station Park. Doug Houston will also have one of the new lounges named in his honour, while the other three hospitality lounges will remain as they were in the old unit, the Ian McPhee, Stewart Kennedy and Archie Knox lounges.
The Directors of Forfar Athletic hope that supporters will enjoy the new facility and look forward to welcoming them over the weeks and months ahead.
Access to the lounge is via the main door adjacent to the north/west corner of the stand.
