Sportsmans Dinner - a date for your diary
[Thursday, 04 September 2014 12:38]
Though it may be eight months off, Friday May 15th is a date many will wish to place in their diary already for next year.
That is the date when the club will stage remarkably it’s 20th Annual Sportsmans Dinner.
The Reid Hall as ever will be the venue for the event which has been a total sell out in recent years and a fine array of entertainment has as usual been lined up.
Former Wolves and Manchester City midfield player Steve Daley who away back in the late seventies cost the then Maine Road based club a fee in excess of one and a half million pounds will be travelling up from south of the border for the event. He is rated along side Steve Kindon who had the Reid Hall audience in raptures a few years back as one of the best footballing after dinner speakers on the circuit down south and is already looking forward to his first sojourn to the ‘toonie.’
Sandy Strang the former Glasgow headmaster and all round sportsman with a style all of his own will be making a welcome return to the Dinner. His material is always bang up to date and to say the least refreshing and without doubt immensely entertaining and humorous, his ‘delivery’ second to none.
English born though we will not hold that against him comedian Phil Melbourne, now based in Scotland will be making his first Reid Hall appearance. He did however appear at another event in the town a couple of years back and earned deserved rave reviews.
The compère for the evening will of course be none other than our own long serving manager Dick Campbell.
As ever full details, prices and booking form will be forwarded to past supporters of the dinner and those on the mailing list early in the New Year.
