No rest for the ‘Loons’

While many workplaces etc enjoy the delight of a two week break at this time of year, there is no such luxury for even part-time professional footballers, nor for that matter the management and officials at SPFL clubs.
This coming week for example the ‘Loons’ players will head to Fife on Monday evening for a closed doors friendly which will see the fringe players get vital ‘match time.’
Then less than 48 hours later on Christmas Eve, around tea time, it will be up to Station Park for a training session in preparation for the match at Peterhead on the Saturday. This session replaces their normal Thursday night excursion to Perth, so the big hearted ‘Santa’ Campbell is allowing them the opportunity to spend Christmas Day with family and friends.
Then for many of the players, especially those based in the Edinburgh and the west and central belts of the country it will be an early rise on Saturday to head up to Station Park for the mid morning departure to the Balmoor Stadium
The following week, the players will go through a similar routine, training on the Monday evening and on Hogmanay as they turn their thoughts to the keenly anticipated derby clash on January 3rd at Station Park.
