MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Stenhousemuir
[Thursday, 15 January 2015 19:36]
Both Forfar Athletic and visitors to Station Park on Saturday Stenhousemuir will be out to break their 2015 ‘duck’ as far as league wins are concerned. While Dick Campbell’s troops have come off second best to Brechin City and Stranraer, Scott Booth’s side having ended 2014 with a superb win down at Stair Park, have suffered odd goal home defeats to Stirling Albion and Morton.
The home side will however go into the game thirteen points ahead of their opponents, having also got the better of the ‘Warriors’ in their two previous ‘jousts’ this campaign. At Station Park in October, goals from Dale Hilson, Gavin Swankie and Martyn Fotheringham secured a 3-0 success, while at Ochilview just seven weeks back, Michael Dunlop and Stephen Husband were the scorers in a 2-0 victory.
The Manager may well tinker with last Saturday’s starting line-up, especially taking an improved second half showing on Saturday past into account. Despite the Development League fixture on Tuesday past being correctly called off, the ‘Loons’ players were able to take part in hard fought ‘bounce’ game on three quarters of the Station Park playing surface. Derek Young such a positive influence in the ‘Loons’ engine room in the early part of the season having come through that exercise with no ill effects is likely to be included on the team line for the first time in over two months.
Dick is also still hopeful of strengthening his pool prior to the game with a potential short term loan deal.
The worst of the wintry weather which the Angus area suffered earlier in the week would appear to be behind us and the Station Park playing surface remains in excellent condition
It will still be day for winter coats, scarves and bunnets come Saturday by all accounts, but this will not deter the ‘Loons die hards.’
Saturday’s referee is Premiership official Craig Charleston, while the match is sponsored by those great supporters of sport in the county Delson Contracts Ltd.
