MATCH PREVIEW: Peterhead v Forfar Athletic
[Monday, 09 March 2015 14:12]
The ‘Loons’ head north tomorrow afternoon bound for Peterhead to fulfil their only midweek league match of the campaign, the original fixture at the Balmoor Stadium due on the 27th of December last year to the disappointment of many falling foul of a frost bound surface.
Dick Campbell and his players will travel in good heart following their excellent 2-0 away win over league leaders Morton on Saturday past. They also know that a victory on the night would see them move level on points with the Cappielow outfit.
Saturday’s performance will obviously have given the manager a selection headache, even though he has only 18 players at his disposal.
Dale Hilson who was only ninety nine per cent fit on Saturday and Stephen Husband who was suffering from a heavy cold were left on the bench at Greenock, but both are expected to be back to full fitness and eager to return to the starting line-up on Tuesday.
However Dick may well be tempted to say same again, but no doubt that will be a late decision.
Local youngster Jason King will again be on the subs bench as back up keeper, as Ross Salmon is ruled out through injury for a third game on the trot.
The home side go into the game on the back of one draw and two defeats over the last week, which have seen their play-off hopes slightly dimmed.
They will however no doubt be keen to put one over their visitors, the ‘Loons’ having triumphed in both clashes between the sides this season, those fixtures having taken place at Station Park. A first half counter from Danny Denholm turned out to be the only goal of the game back in early September, while a brace from Gavin Swankie and a Chris Templeman strike secured a 3-1 win in a feisty encounter six weeks back.
Ayrshire based Kevin Graham who handled the February fixture between the sides is again the man in the middle on Tuesday night.
The kick-off is 7.45p.m.
A reminder to Athies fans not heading north, that a youthful Development Squad side are due to play Berwick Rangers at Station Park on Tuesday evening, also with a 7.45p.m. kick-off.
