Of The Loons
Following last night’s heroic performance from the ‘Loons’ players, it looks like a three figure support will make the 360 mile round trip to Stranraer to back Dick Campbell’s troops in Saturday’s second leg of the Championship Play-Off Semi Final.
However Station Park will also be a busy place on Saturday evening when it plays host to the British Legion Scotland’s Beating the Retreat Tribute as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of VE Day.
The free to enter event which is likely to attract a four figure plus attendance gets underway with a fly past from a Spitfire timed for 7p.m.
Then marching in from the North West corner of the ground will come the Legion contingent including hopefully a few veterans of the conflict, backed by the stars of the show the Military Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
There will also be a massed pipes and drum unit made up of nine separate Scottish pipe bands in what should be a truly spectacular site.
The extravaganza of music that will follow is timed to end at approximately 8.30p.m.
Entrance to the ground on the night for spectators will be via the main gate at the top of Carseview Road or via the gates at either end of the main stand.
For those wishing to partake of a refreshment the 1984 Lounge a the ground which is situated at the west end of the main stand will be open for business from 6p.m. and will remain open for a period after the display comes to a conclusion.
The Refreshment Kiosk within the ground will also be in operation.
Obviously parking within the immediate vicinity of the ground is limited, so please arrive early to make sure you do not miss the beginning of what should be a night to remember.
