MATCH PREVIEW: Alloa Athletic v Forfar Athletic
[Friday, 15 May 2015 14:23]
This will be probably be one of the shortest match preview articles of the season, because quite frankly Sunday’s Championship Play-Off Final Second Leg at the Indodrill Stadium speaks ‘loud and clear’ for itself.
For both Forfar Athletic and Alloa Athletic it is a huge game with the ‘carrot’ of SPFL Championship football come August 8th the reward for the winners of the tie on aggregate come around 7.15p.m. on Sunday evening or potentially later if extra time and even a penalty shoot-out become a factor.
Certainly if Wednesday’s first leg is anything to go by the fans are in for a treat.
The ‘Loons’ go into the game with a two goal lead from that game, goals from Omar Kader, Chris Templeman and Michael Travis securing a 3-1 win.
That end result brought mixed reactions from both camps as is often the case.
Home fans thought it was well merited and deserved, while the away faction felt that the two goal advantage slightly flattered Dick Campbell’s troops.
It was however an entertainingly open ninety minutes of non stop action which was a great advert for the part-time game.
As has been well documented, Gavin Swankie misses out on Sunday due to the 94th minute yellow card he picked up against Ayr two weeks back, the fit again Dale Hilson his likely replacement.
Whether Dick will tinker further with his starting line-up or formation is as ever open to conjecture.
Danny Lennon, the ‘Wasps’ Manager is also likely to field a side along similar lines to Wednesday.
There is no doubt that the ‘Loons’ will head to Clackmannanshire with a travelling support that could only have been dreamed about away back in August of last year when the season got underway.
All will have a part to play, as this dramatic, at times almost heart breaking, but for most of the time heart warming and unforgettable season and comes to it’s conclusion.
