Two of last season’s title chasing ‘Loons’ squad will be plying their trade this season in the Ladbrokes Championship.
Dale Hilson who has been such an integral part of the Station Park side over the past few seasons, originally on loan and latterly as a signed player has signed for Queen of the South.
Dale had never hidden his ambition to return to full time football and he now has that opportunity with the Palmerston Park club.
Omar Kader has rejected the offer of a fourth term with Dick Campbell’s outfit to also try his luck at a higher level with Alloa Athletic who of course triumphed over the Station Park side in the play-off final.
With the financial rewards available to clubs in the second tier of the SPFL, it is practically impossible for clubs such as Forfar Athletic and others in League One to compete as far as wages and conditions are concerned and both players leave Station Park with the best wishes of all concerned for their future in the game.
Manager Dick Campbell is hard at work in the quest to bolster his squad, following these departures ahead of the opening competitive fixture on July 25th.
As has been reported earlier in the week, James Dale has opted to join Darren Dods up at Glebe Park and we look forward to seeing him in action for his new club as the season progresses.
On the positive front Craig Smith has signed a further one year contract with the management team hopeful that the Dundonian will push for a regular first team berth in the season ahead.
Five of the club’s successful league winning Development Squad who were on amateur forms with the club last season have been offered and accepted one year ‘pro’ contracts.
Cameron Clark, Kerr Hay, Michael Kennedy, Jason King and James Yates will all put pen to paper within the week.
Incidentally the club will again compete in the SPFL Development League East in the coming campaign.
