Football Fans in Training (FFIT)
Get fit, lose your belly and get behind the scenes at your local club, all for free.
Are you a man aged 35-65 years old? Is your trouser waist size at least 38 inches? Do you want to lose weight, have a healthier lifestyle and ultimately be fitter? Our 12 week Football Fans In Training programme can help you do this for free. You’ll get a behind the scenes look at your club, be trained by selected club coaches and who knows, maybe you’ll even bump into a player or two. So what are you waiting for?
The main aims of the programme are to:
• Increase knowledge of diet & nutrition
• Improve lifestyle choices
• Increase physical activity amongst participants
• Reduce weight and waist measurements
• Increase engagement in other physical activity
“I’ve always struggled to keep my weight down…On the FFIT programme, the weight began to fall off me purely by following the little hints and tips I was being given. No diet – just eating better and slowly becoming more active. By the time I had completed the course I had shed just short of two stone. I still feel I have a long way to go to get fit, but FFIT has given me the tools to do it!”
A FFIT course is to held at Station Park in the 1984 Lounge starting with a launch and information meeting on Monday 14th December and the course proper from Monday 11th January for twelve weeks. The meetings will take place in the evenings lasting some 90 minutes split approximately 60 minutes on lifestyle improvement then thirty minutes on football coaching. The University of Glasgow Institute of Health & Wellbeing is working with the SPFL Trust and may well make contact to monitor the effectiveness of.
Equipment comprising Pedometers, Workbooks and Club Shirts will be supplied by Forfar Athletic and the initial intake will be for 12 males in the category detailed above. We do intend to extend the scheme next year bringing in a ladies course if sufficient demand exists.
