MATCH PREVIEW: Forfar Athletic v Brechin City
[Thursday, 29 October 2015 16:53]
The ‘Loons’ and ‘City’ meet at Station Park for the first time this season with both teams fairly desperate for the three point haul a victory would secure.
The home side go into the game on the back of a five game league run without a victory, while the visitors sit four points adrift at the wrong end of the league table.
In fact the last victory for Dick Campbell’s men was in the reverse fixture at Glebe Park on the 12th of last month when goals from Derek Young and Omar Kader sealed a 2-0 win.
The Athies are still hit with injury problems, but are boosted by the return of Danny Denholm who was unavailable for last Saturday’s visit to East End Park through family commitments.
Kevin Nicoll who failed what was almost a last second fitness test last week will hopefully be available for selection, boosting the numbers at the disposal of the Station Park management team ever so slightly.
Michael Travis, Michael Dunlop and Lewis Allan are definite non-starters. Scott Martin who moved to the ‘Loons’ from Hibernian on loan last Friday will almost certainly make his home debut in a midfield role.
Visiting Manager Darren Dods will make his return to Station Park with injury headaches of his own, Strikers Dean Shields and Robert Thomson both failed pre-match fitness checks last week and are again rated doubtful.
The City manager, a real favourite with Station Park fans over the past two seasons will however no doubt have his starting eleven well up for the occasion.
A local official will be in charge of the derby fixture, first season Grade One referee Mike Roncone from Monifieth the man in the middle.
The match is sponsored by James F. Stephen Architects, great supporters of the club in recent years.
Admission prices are the normal £13/7 for the stand, £12/6 for the terracing.
Forfar Athletic season ticket holders should utilise voucher 13.
A reminder to supporters of both clubs that the 1984 Lounge at the ground will be open from 12.30p.m. until 2.45p.m. and on the final whistle until approximately 7.30p.m.
