A Happy New Year
[Friday, 01 January 2016 00:00]
The Chairman, Directors, Management and Players of Forfar Athletic Football Club would like to wish all supporters both at home and abroad a Happy and Prosperous 2016.
The year just ended was certainly one of contrasting fortunes for the club.
There was the high of reaching the Championship Play-Off Final in May, the uplifting performance and result in the first leg of the same, contrasting with the bitter disappointment of the outcome of the second leg on that rainy day in Alloa.
One however will never forget the sight of 900 Forfar supporters outnumbering the home support two to one on that fateful afternoon, truly remarkable.
The team made a great start to the current campaign, even running Hearts so close in a titanic League Cup battle.
Since mid September though results and at times performances have not been as we would have hoped for.
This resulted in the Board making the most difficult of decisions to replace Dick Campbell as Manager following over seven years of great service to the club.
We now move forward under Gary Bollan and his backroom staff in what we know will be difficult times, starting with tomorrow’s derby up at Glebe Park.
We also have a fourth round Scottish Cup tie at Linlithgow to look forward to.
The club enter the New Year on a relatively stable financial position, unlike many.
The support all at Station Park have received over the past twelve months both on and off the field has been at times sensational and heartening. We must all stick together going forward, in the first instance, to achieve our immediate goal of retaining our League One status come April 30th.
C’way the ‘Loons.’
