The club’s Development team secured a 5-1 win at home to Stenhousemuir at Station Park last night.
In the process they netted their 50th league goal of the campaign in only their 14th fixture.
Last night’s starting eleven contained in it’s ranks, Danny Denholm and Omar Kader who got an hour of match action and Martyn Fotheringham who played the full ninety minutes.
It was Kerr Hay who gave the home side the lead in the 16th minute with a close range header from a Kader cross.
Right on the stroke of half-time, Craig Smith made it 2-0, with a dink over the keeper from close range after he ran on to a superb through ball from Frankie Devine.
Twelve minutes into the second period, visiting defender Declan Winter turned a Craig Smith left wing cross past his own keeper for the ‘Loons’ third of the night.
Connor McKenzie reduced the leeway in the 73rd minute with a 14 yard strike for the ‘Warriors’, but two goals in the closing ten minutes sealed the homesters success.
Jamie Gill was on hand in the 82nd minute to net from close range after the visiting keeper could only par a Hay strike, while fellow sub Matthew Aitken also got on the score sheet five minutes later with a left foot drive for goal number five.
A visit to Stirling Albion is on the cards for next midweek for Barry Sellars and his ‘troops.’
