The ‘Loons’ development side came out on top to the tune of 2-1 against SPFL Development League East league leaders Stirling Albion on the 3G pitch at a rain lashed Forthbank last night.
The result was all the more impressive as only Jason King, Kerr Hay and Michael Kennedy were in the starting line-up from those who were on the subs bench at Balmoor on Saturday past.
They were also minus Craig Smith and the suspended Jack Neave from their ranks.
The performance of the therefore youthful Athies side on the night not surprisingly delighted coach Barry Sellars and his colleagues.
It was Albion who took the lead, Scott Burns the scorer in the 38th minute, but within sixty seconds Murray MacKintosh restored parity to the score line.
The winner came thirteen minutes into the second period, the goal coming courtesy of trialist Scott Donald.
That counter clinched a sixth successive league victory for the Station Park youngsters with thirty-one goals being netted in the process.
Due to the club’s first team commitments, next week’s home game with Alloa has been put on the ‘back burner’ and will be played on April 5th.
An away fixture at Berwick during week commencing March 8th is the next scheduled league fixture, with East Stirling the visitors to Station Park the following midweek.
