MATCH PREVIEW: Cowdenbeath v Forfar Athletic
[Monday, 22 February 2016 10:35]
The ‘Loons’ play their first of three successive midweek fixtures and their third away game on the bounce when they visit Central Park on Tuesday evening to meet Cowdenbeath, the original fixture having been postponed on January 30th.
Since then neither side have managed to secure a league win with the ‘Blue Brazil’ losing thee and drawing one, the Athies losing two and drawing one.
Colin Nish’s side consequently sit six points ahead of Forfar in the league table.
There is little doubt that the three games that Gary Bollan’s team have over the seven day period commencing on Tuesday night, the visit to Fife being followed by a home game with Albion Rovers and a trip to Glebe Park are season defining.
Certainly a home win on Tuesday could make catching the Fifers a fairly difficult option to say the least for both Forfar and near neighbours Brechin City.
There have however been reasonable ‘shoots of recovery’ in evidence for the ‘Loons’ in recent times and surely they will take heart from running Ayr close in appalling conditions at Somerset Park on Saturday evening.
The visitors starting line up is likely to be along similar lines to Saturday, although Iain Campbell may return, having only made the bench at Ayr, the conditions on the night which were just playable deemed not conducive, following his recent groin strain.
The kick-off on Tuesday is at 7.45p.m. and the match will be refereed by first season Grade One official Steven Kirkland from Ayrshire.
Admission charges at Central Park are £14 for adults, £7 concessions. There is a parent and child gate priced at £15.
