Pre-season Training Well Underway
[Monday, 26 June 2017 13:09]
It may be only five weeks since that memorable
afternoon up in Peterhead but training for the new season is already well
underway for the Forfar squad. Saturday past was indeed the fourth session of
the summer with a full day of training taking place at the fantastic facilities
at the University of St Andrews. The Fife training base at University Park
provides a truly world-class venue which has recently undergone a £14m
redevelopment and has hosted the likes of FC
Barcelona, Manchester United and Scottish Rugby as well as being the permanent
training base for near neighbours Dundee United.
While most of the lads undertook a range of training
drills and of course ‘enjoyed’ the hugely beneficial running sessions a few
were in the gym recovering from injuries under the watchful eyes of physios
Craig Reynolds and Lara Jordan. Everyone connected with the club, not least of
all the players and coaching team, is highly impressed with the level of care
and attention that Craig and Lara provide to the squad, assisted of course by
the additional equipment made possible due to last year’s Tour de Angus cycle
fundraiser.
Training will continue at the St Andrews venue for the
coming weeks as the squad prepares for the pre-season friendlies and the
eagerly awaited first competitive fixture away to Brechin City in the Betfred
Cup on Tuesday 18 July.
