The fact that Remembrance Day this year falls on a Saturday makes it even more poignant for football clubs such as Forfar Athletic and East Fife who clash at Station Park on Saturday.
Forfar Athletic Directors are therefore delighted that they will welcome Officials and the Standard Bearers of the local branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland to Saturday’s fixture.
The Standard Bearers will lead the players and match officials on to the park, prior to participating in the minute’s silence as the last post is played prior to kick-off.
A minute’s silence has of course been the normal practice at all grounds for many a year over the Remembrance weekend, but this will be the first time that members of the local branch of the Legion will have participated in the pre-match ceremony.
