John Baird joins the ‘Loons’

Thirty two year old striker John Baird has become Jim Weir’s first close season signing in the role of Player/Assistant Manager.
John made thirty appearances in the Championship last season for parent club Inverness Caledonian Thistle and also on loan at Morton, while in the previous three campaigns he made 87 appearances for Falkirk netting 32 goals.
John worked under Jim at Montrose ten years back and the two have kept in touch ever since and with his contract at the Caledonian Stadium due to expire in June, he was delighted to put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement with the Station Park club.
Amazingly Forfar will become the fourteenth senior club in Scotland that John will have plied his trade with, his career having begun with Clyde in 2002.
Since then he has also worn the colours of St. Mirren, Stenhousemuir, Montrose, Brechin City, Airdrie, Raith Rovers (twice), Dundee, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South, Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Morton.
He has made well in excess of 400 appearances for these clubs, netting over 120 goals and so hopefully will prove a great asset to the ‘Loons’ both on and off the park in the future.
Barry Sellars who has been in post as Assistant Manager since the autumn of last year will remain in a coaching role.
