The ‘Loons’ Development squad end of season presentations took place at Station Park on Thursday evening.
The Player of the Year was midfielder Jack Allan a regular in the ‘engine room’ in Development League fixtures throughout the campaign.
The Monifieth based youngster who was on Dundee United’s books before arriving at Station Park last summer was also a member of the first team squad during the second half of the season, making his debut from the bench late in the final home game against Queens Park.
The Player’s Player of the Year award went to Sam Clark. Sam who hails from Arbroath has just completed his second season with the Development squad and like Jack was a regular throughout the past campaign mainly in a defensive role.
Sam also spent the season plying his trade and gaining valuable experience on a Saturday with Arbroath Vics through the Development Loan scheme.
In their wisdom the SFA/SPFL have as part of Project Brave brought an end to Development League football with the ‘Loons’ having decided to enter a team in the reformed Reserve League East next season. Word however is still awaited from the SPFL about the number of clubs who have noted initial interest.
Back to the season just completed and a pat on the back to Eddie Gray and the fit again gain Arty Gray for all the time and effort they put in to the development of the younger players along with Kevin McNaughton.
Thanks also to Steve Fallon who stepped in to assist during Arty’s enforced absence and to the parents and friends of the players who constantly ferry them to training sessions and matches.
