The Champagne Issue

Following weekend press reports on the hard fought derby fixture at Station Park on Saturday that was played out over ninety minutes in the correct spirit, Forfar Athletic officials would wish to clarify the following point.
The Champagne and signage mentioned in the reports of the fixture were in fact delivered to Station Park last midweek on behalf of Ladbrokes, the league’s most welcome sponsors and Arbroath Football Club played no part in this exercise.
A similar operation has occurred at many grounds in recent seasons and will happen on a weekly basis this term, as the campaign draws to a close at grounds where there is a possibility of titles or play-off finals being won.
It is simply a case of the league sponsors through their agents being prepared and wanting to get the right publicity pictures at the appropriate time and location.
Forfar Athletic FC and Arbroath FC have shared a great relationship behind the scenes in recent times as do in fact all four Angus clubs and ‘Loons’ officials would not wish this to be tarnished in any way by a misunderstanding by supporters or others of the facts.
